Curriculum

This section features the nutrition education curriculum developed by the Cristine M. Trahms Program for Phenylketonuria. We have used the activities to help children with PKU develop the skills needed to manage PKU. The activities have been tested by Clinic participants.

The curriculum is arranged by age group: preschool, school-age, and teen. It is divided into 14 modules that incorporate acceptance, knowledge and skill development. The activities are used for groups of children with PKU and can been adapted for use with individual children. Each activity includes a list of objectives, lesson plan, and an activity or worksheet that can be reproduced.

Please credit the Cristine M. Trahms Program for Phenylketonuria when making copies of activities.

Most of the books used in the activities can be found at public libraries or book stores. Ordering information is provided for books that might be difficult to locate.

Information developed for the parents of children with PKU can be found here.
