Lehrman Cameron Studio has released the final report for the Interpretive & Wayfinding Plan. A printable version of the final report, as well a copy of the Executive Summary, can be accessed via the links below.
One
of the high priority projects in the Washington Park Arboretum
Master Plan is the implementation of an interpretive and wayfinding
plan for the entire Arboretum. It will communicate to the visitor
the mission and vision for the Park and the Arboretum. It will
also describe major themes and educational messages, and identify
methods of interpretive media. It will include a palette of
construction materials along with a wayfinding sign system
suitable for an Olmsted park and appropriate for the weather
conditions of the Northwest. The plan will serve as a guide
to the interpretation of all projects.
Part of the research
gathered to guide this project will be public input. To share
your ideas by viewing the comments sheet just click

Wayfinding
Given the existing variety of sign types as evident in the Existing Sign Types photos, the team is beginning to brainstorm about a hierarchy of future signage & wayfinding types.
