eerkats will eat just about anything! Some of the things meerkats eat
are like things that you eat. There aren't a lot of plants
where meerkats live, but the meerkats will eat fruit or roots if they
find them. People eat fruit and roots all the time. Did you know
that carrots are roots? Carrots don't grow where meerkats live, but
there are other roots there for the meerkats to eat.

find eggs, they will eat them, too. People eat eggs, but I bet you
cook your eggs before you eat them. The meerkats just eat them raw!
eerkats also eat things that most people don't. Meerkats eat a lot of
bugs. They search on the ground and under rocks for termites, beetles,
and grubs. In fact, bugs are what meerkats eat the most of and they
spend a lot of their time looking for bugs.
eerkats also hunt for
something else. They hunt for scorpions. The picture in the bottom right
corner of this page shows what a scorpion looks like. They have sharp claws and a poison stinger in their tails.
Most animals stay away from scorpions, but meerkats love to eat them.
Sometimes the meerkats get stung, but the scorpions' poison doesn't
work on meerkats!
