Injury and Violence in America

Meeting Challenges, Sharing Solutions

Preventable injuries and violence are the leading killers of Americans ages 1-44, taking thousands of lives every years and costing billions of dollars in health-care costs and lost productivity. This conference, held May 9-11, 2005, drew physicians and researchers committed to advancing the field of injury prevention, "crucial parts of CDC's long-term efforts to address the safety needs of its most important client - the American people," according to Dr. Henry Falk, director of the Coordinating Center for Environmental Health and Injury Prevention at the CDC.
