Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for children of every age from 6 to 14 years - a fact that can be linked, at least in part, to the reality that most kids are unbuckled or improperly restrained in vehicles. Working toward the goal of protecting all children in the appropriate safety seats, the Washington State Booster Seat Coalition is a partnership between the Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center, Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, and the Safety Restraint Coalition.

The Washington State Booster Seat Coalition was recently honored with a 2006 Traffic Safety Superstar Award by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. The Coalition was honored for being "the driving force behind the expansion of Washington's child passenger safety law this past legislative session."
