Behavioral Approaches to Injury Control Conference Proceedings

Since its inception, the field of injury prevention has wrestled with the issue of behavior change. Using what’s been learned from successful efforts, such as initiatives to decrease the motor-vehicle death rate for Americans, experts on behavior change from around the country came to Seattle on Jan. 23, 2003 for “Behavioral Approaches to Injury Control.”

The one-day conference, sponsored by the Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, featured presentations on health-behavior change theories, customized injury-prevention messages, and strategies for including community values and policy makers in a broad approach to injury prevention.
