Washington Search for Young Scholars
"As one of the nation's premier research institutions, the University of Washington is deeply invested in the recognition and development of tomorrow's scholars. Join WSYS and help us build a network of Washington's brightest young thinkers."
- Mark Emmert, President, University of Washington
The Washington Search for Young Scholars (WSYS) is a regional talent search for students in grades 5-8. The goal of WSYS is to identify Washington's brightest young scholars. Students qualify for WSYS by meeting score requirements on a standardized test.
Why Join WSYS?
The Washington Search for Young Scholars was created by the Robinson Center to identify Washington's most academically advanced students in grades 5-8. Students who earn qualifying scores are invited to a formal recognition ceremony at UW and are awarded a certificate of participation. They are eligible to participate in summer programs at the Robinson Center, and to enroll in special distance learning courses through Northwestern and Duke Universities. Their names will be sent to local news media and to their school districts so that their communities can celebrate their academic accomplishment. There is no fee to participate in WSYS.
