Reina Ozeki-Hayashi, MD, MPH, MBE, PhD

Reina Ozeki-Hayashi, MD, MPH, MBE, PhD is a visiting scholar in the Department of Biomedical Ethics at the University of Tokyo in Japan. After receiving MD from Sapporo Medical University, Japan. She started her career as a gastroenterologist in Japan. She had engaged in pancreas and biliary tract cancer patients and was interested in palliative medicine. She had been trained as a resident in the Department of Palliative Medicine at the Tsukuba Medical Centre Hospital for two years. Reina earned her MPH and PhD in the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Tokyo. During her study at Master's and PhD courses, she worked as an internist to treat elderly patients at home or nursing homes. Reina completed a Master of Bioethics at Harvard Medical School, Center for Bioethics, in 2022. Her current research interests are the decision-making process at the end of life, medical futility, medical professionalism, and bioethical education for medical students.
