Dr. Maren Monsen is a physician, filmmaker, and clinical ethicist who uses film to share patient stories and shine light on challenging issues in public health and medicine. She founded the Program in Bioethics and Film at the Stanford University Center for Biomedical Ethics which she ran for 21 years, and has produced multiple internationally acclaimed documentary films. She Co-Directed the Emmy-nominated documentary, The Revolutionary Optimists, following kids in Kolkata India making grassroots change for global health. Previous films include Rare, Worlds Apart, Hold Your Breath, the Vanishing Line and Where the Highway Ends. Her films have been broadcast and released theatrically nationally and internationally, and screened at Sundance, Cannes, the Skoll World Forum in Oxford, and several TEDx events run by Melinda Gates.
